The Mayoral Committee has the responsibility of monitoring the management of the municipality’s administration in accordance with the policy directions of the council and also to oversee the provision of services to communities in the municipality in a sustainable manner. The Executive Mayor, Councillor SZ Mjila, assisted by the Mayoral Committee, heads the executive arm of the executive. The Executive Mayor is at the centre of the system of governance, since executive powers are vested in her to manage the day-to-day affairs of the district. This means that she has an overarching strategic and political responsibility.
